Barbara L. Katainen

April 28, 1945  -  July 2, 2023

Age 78 of White Bear Lake, passed away peacefully, July 2, 2023.

Barbara was born April 28, 1945 in St. Paul, MN to the late Lewis and Norma Klingsporn. Barbie (as she was affectionately called by all who loved her) completed her bachelor's degree through the University of Minnesota, and worked for Hennepin County as a social worker; caring for children and adults in the foster system for over 30 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Stephen, her sons Collin (Becky), Evan (Brianna), sister Karla Hancock, her two grandchildren Dylan (11) and Hayden (9) and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Barbie was a mover and a shaker. Always walking, cooking, baking, taking care of her family. A woman who loved family fiercely. She loved to travel and dance. She placed enormous value on the friendships she formed throughout her career. To know Barbie was a treat, to be loved by her, a treasure. We have lost a dear woman, and Heaven has gained the brightest, kind soul.

Barbara’s life will be celebrated with a SendOff at 11 AM Saturday, October 7th with hors d'oeuvres to follow. Social gathering begins at 10 AM at Manitou Station 2171 4th St., White Bear Lake.
